Originating from eastern Australia Xanthorrhoea glauca is a large blue grass tree that is ideal as a impressive feature plant. The glauca can grow up to 5m tall. This unusual and iconic plant has been a part of Aboriginal history, colonial artworks and a modern-day inspiration to landscape architects.
In New Zealand we have found these plans like dry feet so we recommend planting them on slight mounds or raised garden beds.
Australian Grass Trees – Please note they require NO phosphate in any fertilizers, give a mix of potash and nitrogen, and be mindful of fertilizing plants around them as it may leach down and will kill these beautiful plants.
