Description
Cycas revoluta – also known as ‘Japanese Fern Palm or Japanese Sago Palm, Sago Palm’.
It has a tree-like stance, sometimes branched as it ages, and a truck that is up to 1.8m high and 90cm in diameter. Old specimens are often 2-3 times this height (but this is an exception). The dark green leaves, up to 1.5m long and slightly more than 15cm wide, are initially upright, then spreading. They are slightly curved or heavily arched at the ends. They are formed of narrow leaflets about 18cm long and 6mm wide.
